KOCHI: Manufacturers and distributors of fishing equipments like fishing nets, ropes and accessories, marine engines, boat building materials and other related products were on display at the Indian Fishing Expo 2008 that began here at the Women’s Association Hall. The three-day Expo intends to bring about an interaction with boat owners, fish research institutes, government departments exporters, buyers and inspection agencies for good practices. It is a venue to exchange views and learn new trends and new technologies, like a new fishing line for tuna or the latest in the sonar equipment that gives information on school of fishes while at sea and also provides the information regarding the depth at which it is available. On display is an equipment for purifying diesel that can enhance the functioning of the boats. The Expo was inaugurated by G. Mohan Kumar, chairman, Marine Products Export Development Authority.
