NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old registered bad character and his 26-year-old accomplice have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police in connection with an attempt to murder case in Shahdara here in which two persons had sustained bullet injuries this past June. Based on secret information, prime accused Nayeem was arrested by the police when he came to Karkardooma courts on Friday. His co-accused Danish was subsequently arrested from his house and a motorcycle used in the crime was seized. During interrogation, Nayeem purportedly told the police that his brother Salim was murdered by advocate Ahmed Ali’s brother Irshad Khan early this year and he had since been looking for an opportunity to take revenge. On June 23, Nayeem along with Danish reached the office-cum-residence of Ahmed and opened indiscriminate fire upon him and others present there. Though Ahmed escaped unhurt, his brother Hashim and Intezar sustained bullet injuries. The two were taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where they recuperated. Nayeem, a school drop-out, is registered as a “bad character” at the Shahdara police station and has been involved in half-a-dozen cases of murder and attempt to murder, the police said. Danish, who is unemployed, is allegedly involved in four criminal cases.
