Move to create department for Christians hailed

HYDERABAD: The All-India Christian Council, Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches and Shekinah Crusaders on Saturday welcomed the State government’s decision to constitute a separate department for Christians.

In separate statements issued here, Sam Paul, G. Samuel of the Christian Council, Jetti A.Oliver of the Council of Churches and P. Permanas of Crusaders hailed the decision.

While the Christian Council pleaded for setting of a Christian minority finance development corporation, the Council of Churches urged the government to restore grants-in-aid Church-related institutions.
