Man killed as sand trucks overturn on GST Road

TAMBARAM: A 45-year-old man was killed in a road accident involving trucks transporting sand on Grand Southern Trunk Road in Pallavaram on Saturday.
The Tambaram traffic police said M. Raghupathy of Valayankarai in Padappai, near Tambaram, was travelling in a truck going towards Chennai. Driver Prabhu (28) did not notice another sand-laden truck, going ahead of him, slowing down and he dashed against it. Both the trucks overturned .
While Prabhu escaped unhurt, Raghupathy was killed on the spot. Traffic flow was affected for sometime following the accident. Vehicles proceeding towards Chennai were diverted via Pammal Main Road and Pallavaram Shandy Road. Prabhu was arrested under Section 304 (a) on charges of causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
