ON TOP: McLaren Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton celebrates after taking pole position in the German Grand Prix. Hockenheim: Lewis Hamilton claimed the ninth pole position of his career on Saturday as the McLaren-Mercedes driver qualified fastest for Sunday’s German Formula One Grand Prix. Hamilton registered a time of 1 minute 15.666 seconds on the 4.574-km Hockenheim circuit to finish ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who clocked 1:15.859. Heikki Kovalainen was third fastest in the second McLaren, while Toyota’s Jarno Trulli will start fourth on the grid after putting in a stunning drive. Renault’s Fernando Alonso qualified in fifth spot followed by defending champion Kimi Raikkonen in his Ferrari. Force India’s struggle to come out of a jinx came to a zilch again and Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella will start from the back of the grid again. Undone by understeer, Sutil will start 19th, followed by Fisichella. The top ten: 1. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes); 2. Felipe Massa (Ferrari); 3. Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren-Mercedes); 4. Jarno Trulli (Toyota); 5. Fernando Alonso (Renault); 6. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari); 7. Robert Kubica (BMW-Sauber); 8. Mark Webber (Red Bull); 9. Sebastian Vettel (Toro Rosso); 10.
