NEW DELHI: Second seed Prasanna Rao emerged as the sole leader in the boys’ under-14 section with 4.5 points when he defeated third seeded and compatriot Anikit Rajpara, while top seed Vidit Gujarati unexpectedly dropped half a point in the fifth round of the Asian youth chess championship in Teheran on Friday. On a day when the Indian girls fared better than boys, C. H. Mohineesh, Diptayan Ghosh (boys U-10), Ivana Furtado, M. Mahalakshmi (girls U-10), Sonakshi Rathore, Pratyusha Bodda (girls U-12), Padmini Rout, J. Mohana Priya (girls U-14) and P. Uthra (girls U-18) were among the leaders. The results (involving Indians): Boys U-8 (fourth round): Y. Grahesh (3) lost to Ortik Nigmatov (Uzb, 4); Adrash Srivastava (2) lost to Tran Minh Thang (Vie, 3).
