Chennai: Four batsmen notched up hundreds on the opening day of the third round in the TNCA first division league, here, on Saturday. Jolly Rovers’ M. Vijay (136, 102b, 16x4, 5x6) and the left-handed S. Vidyut (117, 175b, 11x4, 2x6) put on 198 in 181 balls for the first wicket against Alwarpet at the IIT-Chemplast ground. Rovers was 387 for six at stumps. Vijay reached his hundred in just 68 balls. Left-arm spinner R. Raghuram picked up three wickets. At the Murugappa ground, Parry’s Ra. Aravind (143 batting, 263b, 18x4, 1x6) and Juzer Abbas (60, 190b, 4x4, 1x6) added 171 for the third wicket against Young Stars. Parry’s was 243 for five at close; paceman S. Senthilnathan scalped four. Jesubabu Honeymen’s unbeaten 104 (296b, 10x4, 1x6, 1x5) was the highlight in Aruna’s 262 for four against Globe Trotters at the MRF-Pachaiappa’s ground. Honeymen and S. Anirudha (76, 98b, 8x4, 2x6) put on 158 for the second wicket. Arun Karthik keeps scoringK.B. Arun Karthik continued his fine form for Grand Slam with a battling 73 (85b, 9x4) against Vijay CC on a MAC pitch with a greenish tinge. The opener, who went past the 400-run mark for the season, was involved in partnerships of 66 (for the second wicket with S. Suresh Kumar) and 51 (fifth wicket with E. Ashwin) when there was a fair measure of assistance for the seamers. Earlier, paceman K. Kaushik, who finished with four for 62, struck thrice in his sixth over. Grand Slam, also helped by a combative 58 from K. Sriram (102b, 9x4), recovered from 81 for four to 256 all out. Vijay was 24 for one at the conclusion of the first day. The left-handed Sharath raised 93 for the fifth wicket with N. Lokesh (45) and 74 unbeaten runs for the sixth with Shravan Krishnan (24 batting). Left-arm paceman V. Rajnikanth (four for 53) made the early inroads. R. Srinivasan (58, 101b, 7x4) top-scored in an India Pistons score of 207 at the Railway ground. C. Ganapathi contributed 40 and Tabaarak Baig 37. At MRF-Pachaiyappa’s: Aruna 262 for four in 90 overs (Jesubabu Honeymen 104 batting, S. Anirudha 76) vs Globe Trotters. At IIT-Chemplast: Jolly Rovers 387 for six in 90 overs (S. Vidyut 117, M.
