NEW DELHI: Hailing the Indian hockey team for its title-winning performance in the Junior Asia Cup, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President, Suresh Kalmadi, on Saturday congratulated coach A. K. Bansal and captain Gurbaj Singh for the victory. Kalmadi praised the team for its temperament to fight back from a tough situation to win the final against Korea in Hyderabad on Friday. “This victory not only means a lot for the talented bunch that showed remarkable courage despite being down 0-2 to keep their cool and snatch the title but also proves that they are the team for the future,” Kalmadi said in a statement, adding “We are very much heading in the right direction.” Kalmadi, who heads the IOA’s ad hoc committee for hockey, also lauded drag-flicker Diwakar Ram’s performance. — Sports Reporter
