For the cause of education

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: It was a long early morning walk for a group of Bangaloreans on Sunday. The pace of some was brisk, while that of others seemed a bit sluggish. But they had a purpose: to create awareness about education.

Awareness

“Aashayein Walkathon 2008” was organised by Aashayein Foundation to spread awareness about every child’s rights to education. The participants started the walk from the Kanteerava Stadium. They walked through the Cubbon Park, Vittal Mallya Road and Rajaram Mohan Roy Road and returned to the stadium.

Paintings

The foundation had displayed paintings by children studying in government schools at the stadium. A group of government school children had fun dipping their hands in colour and placing them on a big white canvas.

Opportunity

Manivannan, president of the Heart and Soul Foundation, who flagged off the walkathon, said that the event provided an opportunity to the people to learn from children the values of life.
