Thindal post office has now been upgraded into a sub-post office with increase in staff strength to cope with the workload. When this was functioning as a small branch office, due to dearth of staff, the letters were delivered to the addresses very late in the evening or on subsequent days. Unfortunately, the same trend continues even now. The authorities may kindly look into this matter. C. Bhaskaran, Erode. Traffic signalsTraffic signals may be erected near the bridge at the junction of Mysore Trunk Road and Athany road near Bhavaneeswarer temple, near SPS petrol pump at the junction of Coimbatore road and Erode road, near Manikoondu, and at Kombupallam at the junction of Mysore Trunk Road and Tippu Sultan road to avert accidents. G.N. Devaraj, Bhavanisagar. White paper neededNot even during the peak of power crisis in the 80’s was power cut imposed between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. This is the time school-going children and house-wives start the day. An unannounced power-cut for four hours a day is prevailing in all residential areas of Coimbatore. It is high time the Government came out with a white paper on power position in the State including the details of total power production, demand, shortage, transmission loss, comparative loss in other States, steps taken to reduce such losses including investment in technology, quantum and cost of power supplied free of cost, financial status of such beneficiaries etc. Such report should state how our State which was contributing to Southern grid two years ago has slid to the current power crisis. Till the crisis is resolved, political parties should avoid conducting ‘maanadus’ with illuminated pandals. P.N.Radhakrishnan, Coimbatore.
