Militants tonsure girls in J&K

Jammu: Two girls in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district were allegedly tonsured by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants on suspicion of being army spies, an act that drew strong protests from the locals.

Two LeT militants -- Yasir Wani and Sajjad Ahmed -- intercepted the girls from Chalias village of Gandoh when they were grazing cattle at Beli area on Saturday evening, official sources said.

Labelling them as army informers, the militants shaved off the girls’ heads and set them free with a warning that they would be killed if they did not stop working for security forces as informers.
