Bijnor: A retired Lt-Colonel, Ashok Kumar, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his advocate uncle 13 years ago over a property dispute. Additional District and Sessions Judge P.K. Chaurasia on Saturday sentenced Kumar for killing his uncle, senior advocate Kailash Narain on July 22, 1995. Mr. Chaurasia also slapped a fine of Rs.20,000 on Kumar. According to the prosecution, two sons of late Pratap Singh (retired judge), Kailash Narain and Prakesh Narain - both advocates, were engaged in litigation over a property of their deceased father for the last 40 years. On July 22, 1995 when Kailesh Narain was returning home with his son after attending his case in the court, Prakesh Narain’s son, Ashok Kumar, then a lieutenant colonel posted in Pune, hit him with an iron rod and escaped. Kailash Narain died on the way to hospital. The murder case went on for 13 years – PTI
