Sirsi: Canara MP Ananthkumar Hegde has sent a proposal to the Chief Minister on declaring seven forest areas in Uttara Kannada district (all along the Western Ghats) as sensitive and preparing a project report to conserve them, under different Acts pertaining to protection of wildlife and environment. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, released to the press here on Sunday, Mr. Hegde has said that forest cover, biodiversity and wildlife needed to be preserved as they were facing threat of either loss or extinction. Mr. Hegde has said that forests in the following regions have to be declared as sensitive: Aghanashini-Mukti Hole-Kattalekanu, Bedthi-Gangavali-Jenukallugudda-Magod Jalapata-Tenginamudi, Yana-Bennehole, Sahasralinga-Sonda region, Karikannamagudda, Unchalli-Nilkunda Ghatta region and Shraravti valley-Kanur Kote.
