PANAJI: Search operations by the Goa police continued unsuccessfully till Sunday evening for two Mumbai-based medical students who drowned at Calangute beach on Saturday. According to the Calangute police, Bharat Barad of Ahmedabad and Prerit Sarang of Jaipur, both aged about 20, had arrived in Goa on a picnic on Saturday with five friends, all students of D.Y. Patil Medical College. They had gone for a swim in the evening when two of them drowned. Police officials told The Hindu on Sunday that rough sea and inclement weather conditions affected the search operations which were continued with the help of marine police, among others.
