NEW DELHI: Cautioning the citizens about prevalence of seasonal diseases in the Capital, Chairman of the MCD Standing Committee Vijender Gupta has informed that high-density breeding of mosquitoes causing dengue and malaria had been detected in a number of Delhi’s colonies. Speaking at the closing ceremony of one-month long intensive dengue and malaria awareness drive organised by the MCD here on Sunday, he said offices, hospitals, schools and many other institutions too were no exception. Mr. Gupta said the drive would, however, continue and MCD would begin its second phase from Monday. He also informed that since the beginning of summer, over 20,000 “challans” had been issued for mosquito breeding. According to Mr. Gupta, the MCD had increased distribution of temephos granules. “The one kg pack is being distributed free of charge to residents’ welfare associations, market federations, institutions, offices, organisations and individuals. This chemical is effective for three weeks compared to petrol or kerosene which is effective only for a week. This is available free of charge at MCD’s Zonal Offices, Malaria Circle Offices situated in every ward and Municipal Councillors Offices,” he added
