JAIPUR: Tension mounted in Kota, Bundi and Keshoraipatan areas of Rajasthan following the murder of a Bajrang Dal leader, Dara Singh Gurjar, police said here on Sunday. Dara Singh, a known personality in the region and one of the accused in last year’s communal clashes at Bundi, was shot by some unidentified persons at Nanta Road in Kota on Saturday while he was travelling on a motorcycle. Soon after the incident, shopkeepers pulled down their shutters in protest against the killing. Bajrang Dal demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved. Old enmityPolice suspected an old enmity behind the murder and said the crime was committed in a planned manner. “Though the situation is peaceful and well within control, tension still prevailed in Keshoraipatan, home town of Dara as all shops of the market remained closed in protest of the killing of their leader,” Superintendent of Police O M Prakash said over phone. Three companies of Rajasthan Armed Force (RAC) and one company of Special Task Force (STF) were deployed in Keshoraipatan to prevent any untoward incident, Prakash said. - PTI
