Man held for assaulting constable attached to Home Guards

PUDUCHERRY: Santhanam (24), an accused in several murder cases, was on Sunday arrested for assaulting a police constable attached to the Home Guards.

According to the police, Santhanam and two others had assaulted constable Senthil Kumar while he was on night patrol at Kokkupark on Saturday. Kumar had stopped the bike the three were riding. They picked up an argument with Kumar, assaulted him and fled with his walkie-talkie.

The D-Nagar police arrested Santhanam, a resident of Vasantham Nagar near Auroville, and recovered the walkie-talkie from his custody. A search is on to arrest the other two accused, the police said.

They said Santhanam was one of the accused in the murder of anti-social Raghu.
