BANGALORE: The Government is planning to construct hostels for Muslim students in each zone of Bangalore city, Mumtaz Ali Khan, Minister for Haj, Wakfs and Minority Welfare, has said.
He was speaking at a function organised here on Sunday by the Muslim Students Welfare Organisation (MSWO) to felicitate meritorious Muslim students of Bangalore Urban and Rural districts. The Minister said that hostels would be built in each zone instead of having a single hostel in the city. “There is a provision for constructing 20 hostels across the State in the budget,” he said.
Prof. Khan said that some of the Wakf properties had been encroached upon, and that steps would be taken to recover them. “Imparting religious values along with modern education is a good concept,” he said. As many as 273 students were felicitated on the occasion. The MSWO submitted a memorandum to the Minister for allotment of a Wakf land for a hostel for Muslim students.
