‘Fight against liquor mafia’
Staff Reporter
NARASARAOPET: Former Vijayawada Mayor Tadi Sakuntala has called upon the women to launch a concerted fight against the belt shops and take on the powerful liquor mafia.
Addressing a meeting of ‘Mahila Varidhi,’ the women’s wing of the proposed party being set up cine star Chiranjeevi here on Sunday, she lashed out at the Congress government for its flawed policies encouraging sale of liquor.
She said that successive governments had encouraged the mushrooming of belt shops to boost sales and had turned a blind eye to the domestic problems faced by the women.
She called upon the women to enter politics and take an active part in public life.
