THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city police on Sunday arrested the owner of an automobile workshop at Vazhayila on charges of taking vehicle loans from public sector banks and selling these vehicles with the forged registration certificate particulars of other cars. Circle Inspector of Police (Peroorkada), K.E. Baiju, said investigations by the Vattiyoorkavu police on a complaint filed by Gopinathan of Ambalathinkara, led to the arrest of Vijayan, owner of Attukal Devi Automobiles. The accused forged documents of a Maruti car belonging to Mohandas of Kazhakuttom and fitted the number plate to an Indica car and took a policy from United India Insurance. He later sold the vehicle to Mr. Gopinathan for Rs.2.5 lakh. The accused gave the insurance documents at the time of handing over the car. Vijayan took the car back from Mr. Gopinathan after he asked for the RC book. He later sold it to Vijayakumaran Nair of Pathanamthitta. Foreigner dead: A 78-year-old foreign tourist died after she was admitted to the Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. She was identified as Veronica, a citizen of Switzerland.
