Plea to solve problem in Manjushree plantation

Udhagamandalam: The intervention of the government has been sought to tackle the problems at the Manjushree Plantations in Gudalur where payment of wages to the workers has become irregular.

In a memorandum submitted to the Collector here on Monday, the Joint Action Committee of various unions demanded that the provisions of the Tea Act should used by the government to take over the management. The committee suggested that it should be run as a workers industrial cooperative firm.

Meanwhile members of the Dalit Panthers of India observed a fast at Gudalur to draw the attention of the government to the problems of the workers in the Manjushree plantation.
