Losing trust: The ruling party members submitting a notice to zilla panchayat president Latha Siddashetty during a meeting in Mysore on Monday. MYSORE: In an interesting development, the ruling party members of the Mysore Zilla Panchayat have decided to move a no-confidence motion against the president and vice-president. They have asked the president to convene a special meeting in this connection. “We have lost confidence in you and vice-president Krishnappa and therefore we have issued the notice to you under Sections 179 (3) and 180 2 (A) of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act,” the members said, in a notice to president Latha Siddashetty. The notice contained the signatures of 31 ruling Congress members. On Monday, a special meeting was convened at 11 a.m., but it was delayed by over an hour. When the meeting started, the ruling members walked out of the hall after submitting the notice to the president. The president adjourned the meeting due to lack of quorum. UpsetIt is learnt that the members are upset with Ms. Siddashetty and Mr. Krishnappa as they have not vacated their posts after the completion of their one-year term even after repeated pleas. The president and vice-president are supposed to resign from their posts before their term which ends on July 27 according to an “agreement” reached in the presence of State leaders.
