COLOMBO: The suspense over the outcome of the trust vote on the Manmohan Singh Government in the Lok Sabha had an echo here as Sri Lanka geared up to host the SAARC Summit scheduled on August 2 and 3. The Summit would be preceded by a series of meetings at the official and ministerial level beginning on July 27. A question on whether the result of the confidence vote on the Congress led Government in India could affect the SAARC Summit came up at a media briefing addressed by Sri Lanka Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogallagama on preparations under way for the 15h Summit. The Minister maintained that political developments in New Delhi would not affect the 15th SAARC time table. “SAARC as a forum deals with states and every state at any given point has a Government. The Head of State from India is committed to participate in the Summit and it would be held as per the announced programme, Mr. Bogallagama quipped in response to a question.
