Criminals crossing borders will not be spared: DIG
Special Correspondent
VILLUPURAM: Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Villupuram Range) E.Ma. Masanamuthu has said that those who commit crimes in Villupuram and Cuddalore and then seek asylum in Puducherry will be tracked down and punished.
Mr. Masanamuthu told The Hindu that some anti-social elements were crossing the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry border to escape from the police. But they would be arrested with the help of the territorial police. Liquor peddlers too were reportedly following the same tactic and hence, check-posts at entry points to Villupuram and Cuddalore would be strengthened.
Acknowledging the fact that the Chennai-Villupuram highway was prone to accidents, he said the Highway Patrol personnel had been directed to take preventive measures and immediately attend to accident victims. Policing in the coastal areas would also be tightened, Mr. Masanamuthu said.
