Priority to improve sanitary conditions, says Minister

NAMAKKAL: The Central and State Governments accord top priority for improving sanitary conditions in the rural areas, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan said.

More funds are being allotted for the construction of sanitary complexes particularly for women in the rural areas, the Minister said after inaugurating community halls and sanitary complexes constructed at a cost of Rs. 21 lakh allotted under her constituency development fund in Kabilamalai block recently. The new facilities were created in Kabilakurichi, Chinnachozhipalayam, Sakthipalayam, Marapalayam and Jameen Ilampillai villages in the block.

The Minister said that the constituency development fund was primarily being allotted to create facilities, which could be utilised by the people for a long period.
