Preparations for ‘vavu bali’

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) is making elaborate arrangements for ‘vavu bali’ on August 1.

In Thiruvananthapuram, people can offer ‘bali’ at Thiruvallam, Aruvikkara, Shaghumughom, Thrivikramangalam, Kadinamkulam, Rameswaram, Keraladityapuram, Veli and Varkala. Arrangements are also in place at Thirumullavaram in Kollam and Aluva, a TDB press release issued here on Tuesday said.

Preparations began earlier than usual at the Sri Parasurama Temple at Thiruvallam. Ninety per cent of the work on the construction of the compound wall had been over. The road work would be completed on Saturday. The construction of lavatories was progressing. Removal of silt from the river was being done during forenoons. Parking facilities were being set up and the temple surroundings were being cleaned.
