dated July 23, 1958: Iraq’s request to India

A formal request for recognition has been received from the new Iraqi Government in New Delhi on July 21. The Government of India’s announcement of its decision will be made shortly. Reports received in New Delhi suggest that the internal conditions in Iraq are normal and that the new Government has control over the situation.
