dated July 23, 1958: Heavy rain in Delhi

Fourteen persons died in New Delhi following heavy continuous rains on July 20 and the capital registered an all time record of over ten inches of rainfall on that day. The heavy downpour was accompanied by lightning and thunder and filled the areas lying west of the Jumna river with water which could not find a way through the slush-plugged drainage system.
