KARAIKUDI: Vivek Aadheenam’s all-round performance (57 and five for 29) and Krishna Kumar’s 106-ball 133 (15x4) helped host Sivagangai register a resounding 230-run victory over Karur in the four-team ‘C’ zone league in the TNCA inter-district under-19 cricket tournament here on Tuesday. I. Sudesh’s 118 for host Theni went in vain as it lost to Namakkal by six wickets in the five-team ‘F’ zone league. The scores: At Karaikudi: Sivagangai 355 for seven in 50 overs (Krishna Kumar 133, Saravanan 63, Vivek Aadheenam 57, K. Subramanian 40, Sridhar Periasamy four for 79) bt Karur 125 in 29 overs (Vivek Aadheenam five for 29, Rameshkumar four for 34); Pudukottai 137 in 48 overs (Naresh Babu three for 23, Prabu three for 16) lost to Vellore 138 for two in 28.2 overs (B. Ganthan 62 n.o., Bilva Prasad 50). At Theni: Theni 199 for nine in 50 overs (I. Sudesh 118) lost to Namakkal 202 for four in 45.3 overs (Saravanan 65 n.o., Mani Bharathi 98 n.o.).
