Power consumption may be pegged at 100 mu
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The power utilities are said to be thinking of pegging power consumption at 100 million units (mu) a day to tide over the power shortage in the State.
This will mean a reduction in power consumption by 17 to 20 per cent. Consumption in the State stood at 117 million units before the enforcement of load-shedding. Already, power consumption was limited to 102.69 mu on Monday, with load-shedding.
According to a senior official in the power sector, the five electricity supply companies in the State cannot supply more than 100 mu a day as of now. Any demand in excess of that needs to be reduced through further load shedding.
