NEW DELHI: A young woman was allegedly gang-raped and a minor criminally assaulted in separate incidents in the Capital over the weekend. Two persons have been arrested. According to the police, the 24-year-old woman had gone to a motor training college in the Hazrat Nizamuddin area where the training college owner and a friend criminally assaulted her. The victim has been staying with her parents since the death of her husband two years ago. Her parents deal in woollen shawls and had gone to Jammu three days ago. “She went to Royal Motor Training College around 4 p.m. Training college owner Surender mixed sedatives in her drink and rendered her unconscious. He then took her to a flat in New Friends Colony and allegedly criminally assaulted her along with his friend Ravi (36). On gaining consciousness a few hours later, the victim reported the matter to the police and a case was registered,” said a senior police officer. Surender has been arrested. Ravi, who owns a motor spare parts in Bhogal, is absconding. In another case, a 11-year-old girl was allegedly criminally assaulted by Iqbal Ahmed (55) in Krishna Nagar when she went to buy toffee at his grocery shop around 6 p.m. on Sunday. “Iqbal lured the girl to a room on the terrace of his house and forced himself upon her. On returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her mother and the matter was reported to the police. The victim’s medical examination confirmed criminal assault. Subsequently Iqbal was arrested from his house,” said a police officer.
