Government urged to set up colleges

Staff Correspondent

Chitradurga: Members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday.

They were demanding that the Government set up medical, engineering and girls’ first grade PU colleges in the district

In a press release, the union said that Chitradurga being a backward district, had more poor students.

It was difficult for these students to study in private colleges as these colleges demand exorbitant fee in the name of donation.

The release added that there were some colleges providing higher education in neighbouring Davangere district. Davangere district which was formed after Chitradurga has a Government medical college, while Chitradurga has been deprived of such colleges, it added.

Considering these aspects, the Government should start such colleges in the district, the union said.
