Energy security a vital issue today, says Haryana Chief Minister “Deal will push pace of development in the country”
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda complimented UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday evening for winning the confidence vote in Parliament. Describing it as a victory of the Congress party’s progressive and development-oriented policies, he said those who had voted against the nuclear deal stood exposed as “not being in favour of development of the country”. Mr. Hooda said the people would not forgive those who had tried to hinder the country’s efforts to resolve its energy problem. He described energy security as one of the vital issues today and said his regime too had been making efforts to get the proposed nuclear power plant set up at Kumharia in Fatehabad district of Haryana. He recalled that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his last visit to the State had announced that the nuclear plant would be set up in Haryana. Thanking all those who supported the Congress on the nuclear deal and stood by the Prime Minister at this crucial juncture, Mr. Hooda said the signing of the nuclear deal with the US would push the pace of development in the country and the issue of power scarcity would be resolved to a great extent.
