BHUBANESWAR: Film Society of Bhubaneswar (FSB) has announced its screening of films for the month here on Tuesday. It would screen two films at Jayadev Bhawan on Sunday. The screening will start at 6 p.m. with ‘Kolya’, a film from the Czech Republic made in 1996 by Jan Sverak, who has used the backdrop of the Russian military occupation in Prague to tell the story of an unusual friendship. The next film from Japan – Hadaka no shima (Naked Island) – has been scheduled to be screened at 8 pm. Directed by one of Japan’s master filmmakers, the film is being regarded as one of the classics of the world cinema for its extraordinary depiction of the human struggle. Made in 1960, this 90-minute film in black and white film still pulls huge crowd all over the world, informed the hosts. FSB has made special arrangements for acceptance of membership at the venue, they added.
