Red Ribbon Express arrives tomorrow

Bangalore: Deputy Commissioner Bangalore Urban G.N. Nayak has said that the Red Ribbon Express was an important and unique programme to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.

The Red Ribbon Express arrived at Bangarpet in Kolar district on Monday and is scheduled to chug into Bangalore Cantonment station on July 24 at 9 a.m..

The seven-coach express will provide information to people about HIV/AIDS. The first three coaches will provide basic information about HIV infection, routes of transmission, prevalence of HIV/AIDS across States and districts, HIV/AIDS prevention and other relevant issues. Coach 4 has a 60-seat auditorium meant to train cohesive groups such as healthcare providers and elected representatives, while Coach 5 has counselling-cum-medical services. Four counsellors and two doctors in six cubicles will provide confidential counselling on HIV/AIDS. Coaches 6 and 7 are for people.
