HYDERABAD: Film actor Chiranjeevi’s brother, K. Nagendra Babu on Tuesday asked people to focus on working with people, regardless of victory or defeat.

His observation caused bewilderment among aspirants from Anantapur and Warangal districts participating in the ‘Sannahaka Samaveshaalu’ (preparatory meetings) on the second day. They were left wondering if the changing political equations at the Centre and State were forcing the new party to look at realities instead of taking for granted, the hype created among fans and in the media.

“Victories and defeats in elections are common. If we win, we will adopt pro-people policies and if we do not, we will arm-twist Government to work for people’s welfare,” he told party supporters. Mr. Chiranjeevi’s three decade-long career is at stake as he enters political life, he said, asking them to extend their whole-hearted support.

Without naming any political party, Mr. Babu said successive Governments have failed to deliver the goods. “Sixty years after Independence, people are still not having their basic needs fulfilled while economic inequalities and regional imbalances prevail,” he regretted, saying it had been over six months since Mr. Chiranjeevi and his band of followers had launched a ‘yagnam’ that needed to be taken forward.

He categorically said that those aspiring to enter the portals of the Parliament and Legislative Assembly should first shoulder responsibilities.

“Work with people and positions will follow on their own”, he told the audience.

When asked, he declined to furnish any details of how the shape and structure of the political party would be.

“Wait for a few more weeks. My brother will announce it officially before a large gathering, of people” Mr. Nagendra Babu said.
