Talented: Students performing at ‘Vrishti 2008’ held at the Venus International Public School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Bangalore: India’s vast culture and heritage was portrayed through a scintillating performance by the Panchari Melam troupe at National Public School, Koramangala, recently. The troupe was led by Anand Marar of the Kerala Lalita Kala Academy. The hypnotic percussion music is usually played during temple festivals to pay obeisance to the divine power. The ensemble of traditional musical instruments — chenda, elathalam and kombu — played with exceptional speed and coordination, left the audience spellbound for more than half-an-hour. The exposure to varied culture and tradition will certainly help students cherish and value them. In its endeavour to preserve nature’s bounty, the Parachute Regiment School conducted a “Go Green” campaign recently. Students and teachers planted 22 fruit saplings in the school campus on the occasion. Each class has adopted a sapling to be nurtured by them. Gradually these will blossom into full-grown trees. ‘Vrishti 2008’Venus International Public School, Rajajinagar, conducted “Vrishti 2008,” the monsoon fest, recently. In the annual event comprising various activities, the multi-dimensional abilities of the children were brought to light. Chairman of the institution T. Balakrishna inaugurated the event. The students did justice to all the events by their active participation. Environment DayThe MES Kishore Kendra Public School, Vidyaranyapura, conducted several activities to create awareness among students about the environment. Students of classes VII and VIII went to a nearby lake and cleaned the surroundings. They planted saplings in the area and took oath to keep their environment green and healthy. THE HINDU NIE TEAM
