U.S. to continue working with India on nuclear deal

Washington: Responding to the victory of the government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Parliament, the U.S. on Tuesday said it looked forward to continuing to work with India on the civilian nuclear deal and further strengthening the strategic partnership.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Prime Minister Singh’s government on strengthening our strategic partnership with India and working on a number of important bilateral issues, including a US-India civilian nuclear agreement,” Gordon Johndroe, spokesman of the National Security Council, told PTI.

Mr. Johndroe’s comments came soon after the UPA government won the trust vote in Parliament over the India-U.S. nuclear deal which was signed by Dr. Singh and U.S. President George W. Bush in June 2005. — PTI
