THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court Judge K. Ramakrishnan on Tuesday examined the mother and neighbour of six-year-old Jincy who was allegedly raped and murdered by Sebastian, 24, a murder convict who is currently in Poojappura jail here after being sentenced to death in connection with a similar case a few years ago. The 24-year-old youth was sentenced to death by the court after he was found guilty of raping and killing a two-year-old girl at Poonthura. According to the prosecution, Jincy, a resident of Kazhakkuttom, was reported missing from her house on June 24, 2003. Her parents filed a child missing complaint at the Kadhinamkulam police station. A few days later, Jincy’s decomposed body was fished out from the sea. The post-mortem examination report cited “drowning” as the cause of Jincy’s death. The case was later transferred to the Crime Branch police. According to the police, Sebastian alias ‘Cheviathan’ has a number of similar cases registered against him in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
