Police fabricated FIR, alleges Sanjeev Nanda
New Delhi: Sanjeev Nanda, the prime accused in the BMW hit-and-run case, on Tuesday claimed before a city court that the Delhi police had fabricated the FIR in their anxiety to book him under harsh penal provisions.
“Just to secure [the] conviction of Nanda under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC, which carries the maximum punishment of life term, Delhi Police fabricated the FIR and withheld some of its own PCR records,” Mr. Nanda’s counsel Ramesh Gupta told Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar.
Mr. Gupta said: “It was a serious issue, as the policemen either lied or withheld information sfrom the court. They could be tried for perjury for the act.” — PTI
