Kakinada: The district administration has made arrangements to receive applications for post-metric scholarship through the website www.sbms.ap.gov.in from August 1 to 15. The students have been requested by Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi to submit applications online on the specified dates to pave the way for granting them scholarship. Eligibility of the applicants would be examined from August 16 to 30 and bank accounts opened in their names in the first week of September for remitting the scholarship. The process of training principals/computer assistants in receiving the applications online is set to commence soon and the officials concerned have to ensure that all the students who fulfil the eligibility conditions are not left out of the scheme. The district has a tentative number of 1,00,000 students applying for the scholarship and in addition to opening bank accounts, ATMs would be given to all of them as per the norms. Officials of the SC, ST and BC welfare departments were vested with the responsibility of distributing the scholarship to all the eligible students in a foolproof manner.
