Stay on acquisition of land by KIADB
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday restrained the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) from dispossessing an agriculturist of the land he owned in Jala hobli in Bangalore North taluk.
Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh passed the order on a petition by Munishanappa, a resident of Baaglur village.
The petitioner said that the Government had on March 3, 2007, issued a notification prohibiting acquisition of wet and garden land for industrial purposes.
However, the KIADB had on December 16, 2007, issued a notification for acquiring agricultural land for industrial purposes in Bagalur, Hoovinanayakanahalli and Mahadevarakodgehalli villages, all coming under Jala hobli.
He said he owned five acres and that it comes under the Green Belt area. He urged the court to stay the KIADB notification.
Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh directed the authorities not to dispossess the petitioner and adjourned further hearing on the case.
