BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Suresh Pachouri has welcomed the UPA Government’s victory in Parliament on Tuesday saying that party president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh deserve full credit for this. In a statement here on Wednesday, Mr. Pachouri said Ms. Gandhi was certain that the Opposition would not succeed in its “designs” to dislodge the Government. “That is why the BJP made every attempt to obstruct the House proceedings before the crucial voting took place,” he said. Mr. Pachouri said the proposed Indo-US nuclear agreement would help in solving the country’s power crisis and catapult India into the powerful nuclear club. Uninterrupted electric supply would improve the lot of the farmers and the overall economy of the country, Mr. Pachouri said. The Chairman of the State Congress Campaign Committee, Ajay Singh, also congratulated the Prime Minister and Ms. Gandhi. He was joined by other prominent Congress functionaries.
