Congress ridicules Naidu

Great danger to nation avoided, says Botsa Satyanarayana

TDP chief played politics of opportunism, says Raghuveera Reddy

MPs were swayed by a spirit of patriotism: Housing Minister

HYDERABAD: The Congress party ridiculed Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for trying to play the role of a kingmaker in national politics even though he could not keep his own flock of five Lok Sabha members together.

A day after the UPA Government won the trust vote, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy led the attack on Mr. Naidu for his unsuccessful bid to topple the Government with the support of Left parties and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said the TDP chief played politics of opportunism by joining hands with the Left and other parties.

He said the TDP president was unnerved by the internal dissensions and to overcome the problems, he rushed to New Delhi to play a key role.

“The fear of emergence of a new political party in the State and the subsequent desertions from his party has made Mr. Naidu nervous,” the Minister remarked.

MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy, referring to the cash for vote controversy, pointed a finger at the role of Mr. Naidu in trying to malign the Congress. He wanted the investigating agencies to look into the angle as to why Mr. Naidu met the BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu in Parliament. He alleged that only after this meeting that the BJP MPs produced bundles of currency in the House.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said a great danger was avoided to the nation.

Talking to reporters, he said the approval of the trust vote indicated that MPs were swayed by a spirit of patriotism. The Minister castigated Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu for posing as a saviour of the nation and yet fishing in troubled waters.
