It has brought shame to democracy:Vardhan

Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan

NEW DELHI: A day after the United Progressive Alliance Government won the trust vote in Parliament, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan charged that “the manner in which the Congress in order to save its government got the confidence vote through use of money power, it had completely exposed itself before the eyes of the people”.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Vardhan said that by bribing the people’s representatives the Congress had brought shame to Indian democracy. He said the sanctity of the elections, Parliament and the Constitution had been destroyed.

Making a mention of the “votes for notes” scam that he said had been exposed by three BJP members in Parliament, Dr. Vardhan claimed that these MPs had contributed to keeping democracy alive by acting in a sincere and righteous manner and not succumbing to the lure of the lucre.

Referring to the Congress party celebrations that followed the winning of the trust vote, the BJP leader said, “The Congress has lost the hearts of the Indian people even by winning the game of numbers.”
