Statue committee plea

PUDUKOTTAI: The ‘Padmabushan Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddi Statue Committee’ here has urged the government to sanction permission to the committee to set up a statue of the late Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddi on the premises of the District Headquarters hospital here.

In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday, the office-bearers of the committee said that the government had named the ‘Maternity Assistance Scheme’ after this great physician. The memorandum sought the government’s permission to set up her statue at the District Headquarters hospital which had been named after Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddi.

The office-bearers of the committee, including its Honorary president C. Subbiah; the president V. Ravi, C. Ramadas and K. Shanmugasundaram, submitted a copy of the memorandum to the Collector.
