All set: A view of the Vatehole Reservoir near Hassan. HASSAN: Executive engineer, Hemavathi Reservoir Division, Gorur Srirangaraju said here on Wednesday that the Irrigation Consultative Committee of the Vatehole Reservoir, in a meeting on July 19, decided to release water on an “on and off” basis. ScheduleThe water for the kharif crop would be released from July 21 to November 26 subject to availability of water in the reservoir. Water would be released for the first 15 days and then stopped for seven days. Water would again be released for 12 days and then stopped for seven days. Mr. Srirangaraju said that on Wednesday, the storage was 0.9 tmcft against the gross capacity of 1.51 tmcft. It would irrigate 2,226 hectares of paddy during the kharif season and 5,261 hectares of other crops during the rabi season.
