Show on those vanishing stripes

BANGALORE: This one is for nature lovers. A nine-day exhibition of photographs of tigers titled “Vanishing Stripes” will be held at the Venkatappa Art Gallery on Kasturba Road here from July 26.

It is being organised by Prakruti Creations to commemorate Jim Corbett, a conservationist and a writer, whose birth anniversary falls on July 25. The exhibition will feature 80 photographs taken by H.V. Praveen Kumar. It is said to be the first solo exhibition by any tiger photographer in the country.

Sowmya Praveen Kumar, convener of Prakruti Creations, said that “Vanishing Stripes” would not only showcase the pictures of tigers shot in the wild, but also carry details on tiger behaviour. “Our earlier venture, “Wild Wonders”, organised in October 2005 and the K.N. Memorial Nature Photo exhibition, a national-level photo contest, evoked good response,” she said.

There will be no entry fee for the show. Do not forget to be part of the “Save Tiger” campaign, by signing the book at the exhibition.

The organiser plans to send a copy of the book to the chairman of the Tiger Task Force.
