We made it!: J. VISAKAHPATNAM: The fifth and seventh rankers in the Engneering, Agriculture and Medical Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2008 appeared for counselling for admission into the MBBS course at the Visakhapatnam online admission centre located in Andhra University campus as the admission process commenced at five centres in the State simultaneously on Wednesday. Fifth ranker Jala Rajasri opted for Andhra Medical College here while seventh ranked Ambati Sri Pradeepthi preferred Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad. Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana handed over the admission letters to them. The first 1,000 rankers were called for counselling on the first day for admission into the MBBS and BDS courses. A total of 130 candidates appeared for the counselling at the Visakhapatnam centre and 121 of them secured seats in Government medical colleges and remaining nine in the private medical colleges. The online counselling is being held also at two centres in Hyderabad and one each in Vijayawada and Tirupati. The candidate has to mention preference and will be allotted seat depending on the availability. Candidates who secured ranks from 1001 to 2000 would attend the counselling on Thursday. The remaining rankers will be called during the next few days. Camp Officer, On-line Admissions of AU, A. Satyanarayana and Registrar P. Vijaya Prakash were present.
