Central Zone lifts trophy

VIJAYAWADA: Central Zone lifted the P. Narasimha Raju Trophy for the ACA u-19 inter-zonal tournament here on Wednesday. R.P. Srikanth’s 85 for the Central Zone and S. Md. Khan’s four for 58 spell for the South Zone were the highlights of the drawn encounter.

The scores:

Central Zone 287 and 226 in 81.2 overs (R.P. Srikanth 85, S.Md. Khan four for 58, S. Ahmed Basha three for 60 drew with South Zone 140 and 27 for one in six overs.

Krishna triumphs

Krishna lifted the Md. Nazibullah Khan Trophy for the ACA Central Zone u-22 inter-district tournament at Guntur on Wednesday.

Chasing 300 for victory, Guntur was 72 for five in 31 overs when rained prevented play on the final day.

The scores:

260 and 100 for nine decl. in 19 overs (A.G. Pradeep 43 n.o.) drew with Guntur 61 in 25.1 overs (R. Chaitanya four for eight) and 72 for five in 31 overs.

Rain plays spoilsport

Chittoor restricted Kadapa to 68 in 23.3 overs in the ACA South Zone u-22 inter-district tournament at Anantapur, according to information reaching here on Wednesday.

In the other match, Moshin Basha’s 76 helped Kurnool register 144 for four in 48 overs. Both the matches had a delayed start due to rain.

The scores:

Kadapa 68 in 23 3.overs (Vishnuvardhan Reddy five for 35) vs. Chittoor 26 for no loss in 18 overs.

Kurnool 144 for 4 in 48 overs (Moshin Basha 76) vs. Anantapur.

ACA U-19 probables

The following players will play a three-day selection match from July 24 to 26 to pick the ACA u-19 team at IGMC Stadium.

Easy win for Good Friends CC

Good Friends CC recorded a massive 101-run win over Maxwell CC in the Vizag twenty20 cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores:

Good Friends CC 186 for five (Raghavendra 56 n.o., Nookeswara Rao 29, Hari Prasad 29) bt Maxwell C.C. 85 in 18 overs (Venkatesh three for 12).

ABC 84 for six (Raju 40 n.o., Vijay three for 20) lost to Classic C.C. 86 for five in 15 overs.
